QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
What is the minimum casting thickness for Bemix products?
See relevant product sheet. Otherwise, the rule of thumb is that 3 x max ballast is always the minimum casting thickness, i.e. 1 mm ballast x 3 = 3 mm thickness. 4 mm ballast x 3 = 12 mm.
What should the drill diameter be when anchoring bolts?
From iron or items for fixed anchoring, it should be 3 x max ballast for holes around the wall. I.e. if I want to anchor a round piece of iron of 24 mm to a product that has 1 mm ballast, then: 3 x max ballast 1 mm = hole diameter minimum 24+3+3=30 mm.
Where can I buy Bemix Bruk?
Professionals are contacting us directly, while private persons are referred to www.finja.se.
How many bags are there to a pallet?
There are always 40 bags to a pallet. That is, 1 tonne.
How much do I get, approximately, out of one bag of Bemix Bruk?
Each bag contains 25 kg, which gives 12.5 litres.
Bemix Köldbruk cures far too quickly, what should I do?
Bemix Köldbruk is a fast product and cures fastest if you use cold water. You should use warm water to get it to cure a little more slowly, but it’s still fast.
What can I use for works on bridges?
Bemix A3, Bemix A3 FF and Bemix Standard are certified in accordance with the AMA Installation specifications for subbase works, but there is also Bemix High Tech 310 for jointing and repair works.
I’m in a hurry to demolish the mould, what material should I use?
If you’re in a hurry to demolish the mould, you should use Bemix Köldbruk.
Can I cast with Bemix Bruk in freezing temperatures?
Yes, if you do not have a ready-mixed material with a cold admixture, then adding the Bemix Köldbetongtillsats cold concrete admixture works perfectly well. It can be used down to -15 ° C.
I cannot make a mould, what Bemix material do I need?
Bemix High Tech 310 and Bemix F4 are thixotropic materials, which means that their consistency is similar to that of modelling materials. They do not secrete and are suitable for repairs and jointing. Both are also expanders and have minimum shrinkage.
What is expander?
It is a material with minimum shrinkage. In dry conditions water is added, and when the water evaporates, the material shrinks. The shrinkage can be compensated for by using an expander.
When should I use an expander?
For various types of castings such as e.g. gantries, machine bases and pillars.
Give me three good tips for success with my casting!
Wet before casting, wet after casting and cover with plastic. These three simple steps reduce the risk of desiccation cracking.
Is Bemix Bruk available in larger packages?
Yes, all the material is available in large 1-tonne sacks. The minimum amount is 5 tonnes. Get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.
What should be the diameter of the drill bit I use with Snigeldynamit?
Use a drill bit between 30-40 mm for the best possible results. We test the product with 35 mm, and we know we get very good results.
How much water should I mix Snigeldynamit with?
About 2 dl per kg.
Can Snigeldynamit be used during winter?
Yes, but provided that the temperature is not under 5 ° C and that the material to be cracked is covered with warm mats before use.
How long does it take before Snigeldynamit begins to crack?
This depends chiefly on temperature. It can take from around 5 hours to several days! If the object is in direct sunlight and very warm, it occurs quickly. If the object and its surroundings are cold, it takes significantly longer.
Is it dangerous to use Snigeldynamit?
Yes and no. It’s important to be careful and use protective eyewear. Snigeldynamit is largely based on limestone, which is corrosive if it comes into contact with the eyes. Otherwise it is not dangerous.
What is a blow-out from use of Snigeldynamit?
It is what occurs when Snigeldynamit blows strongly out of the hole it has been poured into.
Under what conditions does a blow-out occur when Snigeldynamit is used?
If the water used for mixing or the stone is very warm, the risk increases at the point of filling. The risk also increases if the hole is diamond-drilled or over 40 mm.
Why isn’t anything happening now that I’ve poured Snigeldynamit into the boreholes?
It’s important to follow the mixing instructions in the leaflet, on the packaging and on the product sheet. Don’t add more water than the amount stated. It is also important to mix the material well, with a rapid-moving drill and beater. Initially it looks lumpy, but if mixing continues for a while it takes on a runny consistency. Also follow the drill diagram and the distance between holes.
What should I do with the Snigeldynamit if nothing has happened over the course of several weeks?
When the Snigeldynamit has expanded and has not had any effect, it can be blown out of the hole with air. It turns into a powder, so be sure and protect your eyes, as it is limestone-based
How much Snigeldynamit is required?
If a 35 mm-large hole has been bored, 1.8 kg per linear metre is required. 10 kg is enough for 5.6 metres.
Why do only some Bemix Bruk products have the CE mark?
Products with a particular area of use which are described under a harmonised standard have the CE mark.
Will Snigeldynamit work against slugs?
Yes, but it is not recommended for this use.
What products should be used to repair damage to concrete?
Suitable products from the Bemix concrete repair range.
What is Bemix Korrohäft used for?
Pre-treatment of concrete surfaces before in situ casting or repair.
